Porvoo, Finland. This is a typical Finnish forest, this year we had an unusual amount of snow and it took me an hour to get up here. But as the clouds opened up and let some light trough, it was all worth it.

It was taken in Hatfield Forest in Essex in the UK. Hatfield Forest was a medieval royal hunting ground, and is now managed by the National Trust, but under threat from the development of Stansted Airport.

Minolta Dimage A1
It was on a sunday morning when I walked with our dog through the forest near our home in Southwestern Germany, as I remarked this contrast of light & shadow. And ... I had my A1 in my pocket.
first snow Denmark Nov '08
We finally got some snow here in Ebeltoft, Denmark. So I ran out to grab some pictures in my forest. It always makes me happy when the snow comes.
In the forest HDR
I took the picture in the "Pfaffenforest". Close to Stuttgart, South Germany. You can find some old, thick trees there. I put the white-balance to K2500, that is the reason why it looks so icy and frosty.
beautiful trees
I love the trees in this photo but what kinda freaks me out is whats hidden in the middle. Im not sure, I got this off of a bit of an extreme personality on myspace :D Any takers here?

The beauty of autumn everyway you go (by ArgyHellas)
This picture was taken November 15th, just yesterday, and it is from Mount Olympus, the mountain of the ancient Greek Gods. It is the highest mountain in Greece, 2918m, and this time of the year it is magical with all these yellow and brown leaves, the mist, and the great landscape. This picture shows a turn of the road that comes from the small town of Litochoro and goes to the location "Prionia" where the road ends and then starts the footpath to the high peaks of Olympus.

a deeper blue, and nights that become suddenly clear and

disappearance of migrant birds, and the harvesting of

Witch Hunt
This photo was taken in Newmiller Dam country park near Wakefield, West Yorkshire (UK). I've known this place from childhood having gone on walks here with my parents. Now I take my children there and each time we go there we come across something new. This particular place planted with uniform trees is a very atmospheric place and it is rumoured witches gather here on a night. The remains of camp fires can be found and it does make you wonder who lurks in these woods.
Fall 2008 - Den Haag - The Netherlands
Haagse Bos (forest) was the launching place for the German V1 and V2 rockets in World War II. In 1945 the allies tried to destroy the V2's with a big bombardment (without informing the Dutch authorities), yet the RAF retards held the map upside down which resulted in the bombing of the Bezuidenhout area. 550 people got killed and thousands of people were made homeless right before the liberation... The Germans however were not impressed and continued terrorizing the UK with V2 rockets. None of the RAF officers ever talked about (or took responsibility for) the mistakes they made and the drama they caused.

June 2005, Allegheny National Forest, Pennsylvania
A few years ago when this photo was taken, I worked as an archaeologist at the Allegheny National Forest of western Pennsylvania. This photo was taken of a clearing in the woods that was associated with a historic oil well operation. It shows that even industrial sites can be eventually reclaimed by the hand of Mother Nature.

This is a path in the Black Hills, South Dakota, to Harney Peak. It was quite a long hike, but I really love the landscape there!!

This photo was taken in Redwood National Park near Klamath, CA.
I found this pile of driftwood at the base of the Hidden Beach trail, where the trail spills out of the forest and onto a large secluded beach. Here is a link with more information about this wonderful coastal forest: www.nps.gov/redw/
